Scratch Live 2.5 (Legacy)
In order to see beatgrids in Serato Scratch Live (discontinued), you need The Bridge enabled. In order to enable The Bridge, you need Ableton Live. Serato DJ has beatgrids built in. Which program you need will depend on your hardware, but Scratch Live was discontinued years ago, so no hardware being sold new has supported it for a while. Mar 09, 2011 The Bridge is the result of a partnership between Ableton and Serato to create a way of interfacing their Live and Scratch Live products. The concept has been out for around six months, but it’s fair to say the concept has not yet really set the world on fire. A lot of resistance is based.
Note: Serato Scratch Live has been replaced with Serato DJ.
IMPORTANT: Please read this known issue before updating to Scratch Live 2.5

Scratch Live 2.5 Bug Fixes
Alongside these key features Scratch Live 2.5 also includes bug fixes to continue the unparalleled level of stability and performance that Serato software is known for.
Some examples of the bug fixes are:
- Mixtape .als recordings now work with Ableton Live 9.
- Fixed a bug where the beatgrid lock wasn't being saved and loaded to/from the file; it was only being saved to the database.
- The Sixty-Eight record source is now correctly loaded from preferences.
- Fixed a bug where the CDJ-350 was sending both MIDI and HID messages which meant it could possibly fire two different Scratch Live events at the same time.
- Fixed a bug where the DJFX deck assignments wouldn't save to preferences if going from being 'on' initially, to 'off'.

Ableton and Serato announced The Bridge at NAMM 2010 in Anaheim, California.
The Bridge is designed to span the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live/ITCH.
The Bridge works in both directions:
- Ableton to Serato – The Bridge provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC), giving DJs turntable-style control of their own multitrack productions. DJs can simply drag an Ableton Live Set onto one of the decks in Scratch Live or ITCH and use their turntables, CDJ or ITCH controller to control the transport.
- Serato to Ableton – The Bridge provides the ultimate mixtape creation tool. DJs can perform mixes in Serato Scratch Live or ITCH and save them as an Ableton Live Set. This way, the DJ can still perform the mix—better than cut and pasting it together in a DAW—but also has detailed editing options.
No release date has been set yet – but The Bridge will be free for anyone who owns registered versions of both Serato Scratch Live/ITCH hardware and Ableton Live 8 or Suite 8.
